Crossbar Challenge: have you tried it yet?

Crossbar Challenge

Sharpen your aim and you’ll make it

The Crossbar Challenge, one of the most practiced viral challenges of recent times that, although it seems simple… it isn’t. Find a goal and try it.

The Crossbar Challenge is one of those viral challenges that have emerged on social media in recent years and that hooks amateur and expert football players alike, or anyone standing in front of a goal.

Taking advantage of the 2018 Russia World Cup, it’s a good time to bring back this challenge with your friends and find out who among you can beat the challenge where aim is your best ally.

The procedure to try to beat the Crossbar Challenge is easy: you just have to take a penalty shot towards the goal and have the ball, instead of going in, bounce off the crossbar.

In the end, the important thing is to sharpen your aim so that, after your shot between the two posts, instead of scoring a goal and the ball ending up in the net, the ball hits the top bar, no matter how.

Of course, there are people who manage to shoot the crossbar backwards, while jumping, without looking, with their eyes closed, etc…

Surely, you have already come across some comment or mention of the Crossbar Challenge on social media… If you take a look online, you can find thousands of videos of people practicing the challenge over and over in every possible way and challenging others to try it.

In fact, there are no clear instructions on what the requirements are to successfully complete the challenge, but what is known is that, like all viral challenges, achieving it is a matter of personal satisfaction and a source of pride among friends.

Crossbar Challenge, a challenge that hooks you with its apparent simplicity

Crossbar Challenge is, after all, a healthy and harmless “rivalry” among friends that hooks you with its apparent simplicity.

So, if you want to try it, you already know what you need: a soccer field (or any place with a goal), the goal itself, a ball, and a lot of aim.

You don't need anyone to practice it – not even a goalkeeper, because the goal is not to score a goal – although usually the Crossbar Challenge ends up becoming a challenge among friends and a reason to show off technique and aim.

Afterwards, there are several ways to organize yourself. If you're trying it alone, all you have to do is choose a spot from where you will kick the ball and then, attempt after attempt, learn what force is needed and which part of the ball you have to hit for it to end up on the crossbar.

You can try different spots to shoot from, because the Crossbar Challenge doesn't specify from which point you have to try.

If you're playing with more people, you can take turns challenging each other to see who is the first to succeed, or agree on a series of attempts per person... it depends on how many attempts you're willing to give your opponents!

In this type of challenge, the rules don't matter much if in the end what you can do is achieve it.

So, stand in front of a goal, find your best shooting angle, and show others how far your aim can reach!
