Features to care for those who cared for us on SPC devices for seniors

If you have chosen one of SPC’s devices for seniors, you already know all the features specially designed for the care and protection of senior users that it includes. If, on the other hand, you think that all products for seniors are the same, keep reading, because you will discover all the options our products offer to seniors and that have made us the leading brand in our country for senior devices.

SMART HELP

A few years ago, we developed our own software with the goal of minimizing the difficulties seniors face when using mobile phones. Both the preferences of seniors and the demands of their relatives were taken into account, and after months of work, we launched what is now known as SMART HELP: 3 help functions only available on our mobile phones.

These are:

  1. Smart notifications. The phone alerts the trusted contact if it detects a period of inactivity longer than 24 hours, if a call has not been answered, or if the battery is below 15%. You can activate all options or only those that interest you most in each case; it will only take a few seconds and here we explain how.
  2. Smart ringtone. The phone raises the volume to maximum if, after a missed call, the same number calls again within 3 minutes. Then, it returns to the previous volume level. Activate it with just three taps by following the steps you will see in our SPC support center.
  3. Remote configuration. By sending SMS messages, a trusted contact can add contacts to the phonebook or modify the contact associated with the SOS button remotely. It is very easy and fast; after making sure you have Remote Configuration active in the Smart Help Settings of your senior relative’s device, you can start adding trusted numbers to the list. There is one thing you must pay attention to: always include the prefix, even for Spanish phone numbers (+34). From there, you can start making configuration adjustments from another phone by sending those SMS codes to the phone number you want to configure.

SMART HELP was very well received and continues to be so, as never before has purchasing a mobile phone included this extra level of security and peace of mind for seniors and their loved ones.

SOS Button

SPC’s devices for seniors also include a physical button to activate an emergency call in any risky situation that may arise for the most vulnerable people. By pressing this button, the phone will automatically send a distress call and an emergency message to the closest contacts, those previously configured from the phone’s menu. We give you the keys to quickly and easily configure this option on the senior phone. Access the corresponding menu on the phone (the name may vary depending on the model, such as SOS, Assistance…).

  • Set the function status: "Activate" or "Deactivate".
  • Set the emergency numbers under “Number” (1 to 5).
  • Set the Assistance (SOS) message. Write the help message that will be sent to the SOS numbers: By default, "I need help!".

Once everything is properly configured, if the SOS key is held down for a few seconds, the device will emit an alert sound (horn) and start the call cycle. The phone will activate the speakerphone and call the emergency numbers in consecutive order, also sending the emergency message via SMS. If there is no answer, it will move on to the next number until one responds; this cycle will repeat 3 times.

Smartwatch Safety Perimeter for Seniors

The safety features integrated into SPC’s devices for seniors go beyond phones. Because our seniors may require more technological products in their daily lives, this year SPC launched a smartwatch for seniors that, besides showing the time, allows making and receiving calls and lets their relatives keep track of their health levels and know their location at all times.

In this way, SMARTEE 4G SENIOR accompanies older people by providing them with privacy and independence and reassures their relatives by offering their location and route history.

This smartwatch has GPS that sends the user’s geolocation to the device management app, SMART CLAN, which is usually installed on a smartphone of a family member responsible for the senior. Thanks to this control app, the “caregiver” can set up to two safety perimeters so that the watch sends an alert if they are crossed. Configuring this option is as simple as following these steps:

.- go to the “More” option in the app and select “Safety perimeter”

.- use the slider to define the radius, between 500 meters and 1 km.

.- select “Save,” giving a name to the perimeter (e.g., home…).

We have offered you a quick overview of the main safety options of our products for seniors; but if you have a specific model of one of our devices, we invite you to visit our support section to learn about all the features of your SPC product.
