Could it be the successor to ‘Game of Thrones’?
A post-apocalyptic Europe of 2074 plunged into total chaos embraces and sets the scene for this Netflix series. It is the new German series 'Tribes of Europe', a dystopia that apparently draws inspiration from Brexit.
To understand why Europe is in this situation in the series, we have to look back and go as far as 2029. At that time, the continent suffers a global disaster that unleashes the greatest tribal war to date: the worldwide blackout that marked the end of known civilization and caused all technological worlds to vanish. The planet thus returns once again to a Middle Ages without electricity.
We find ourselves in 2074 with a Europe divided into micronations ruled by various tribes fighting each other for total control. All except one, the peaceful 'Origine' tribe, to which the three main siblings belong. However, they will ultimately have to get involved in the war from the moment a stranger lands near the area where this tribe is settled with a cube that emits a strange energy and that all factions wish to possess.
The three siblings Kiano, Liv, and Elja are separated and drawn into a terrible war after finding this cube.

From here, the siblings are inevitably called to rebuild the continent from its ruins, facing, to achieve this, the tribe of the Ravens. They are the most ruthless and fierce enemy, represented by a violent army that seeks to dominate the continent by invading, exterminating, and exploiting countless slaves.
SUCCESSOR TO ‘THE 100’ OR ‘GAME OF THRONES’
‘Tribes of Europe’ is a German series from the same producers of 'Dark', although it is more geared towards adventure and with a somewhat more straightforward plot. All this results in six episodes that present the story effectively from start to final outcome, without fillers that lead to endless episodes or seasons.
There are some elements that characterize this series and set it apart from other productions. A mix of mysticism, post-apocalypse, youthful protagonism, bursts of violence and action, and a good atmospheric work.
Even with all the above, the series also clearly shows its influences. From ‘The 100’, a series from which it takes young characters as protagonists; to ‘The Hunger Games’ in the aesthetic reflected by the poorer tribes and the deadly confrontations for the amusement of other groups.

We could even find similarities with the successful 'Game of Thrones' and the story of the separated siblings, with a lesser dose of epic in this case.
As we began at the start of this text, it has been said that 'Tribes of Europe' is inspired by Brexit and that Philip Koch, its creator, imagined its starting point the day after the referendum. Although the series is not very discursive and mostly presents different possibilities of tribes welcoming other tribes. Thus, beneath it all lies the message of how understandable and desirable the human desire to belong to a group is. That said, it is clear that despite the violence so present in this series, the final message is more positive than negative.
And you, what do you think?
