At just 29 years old, Arantxa Unda made it onto the Forbes list recognizing the 30 most influential people under 30 in Europe. This award, received in 2017 and related to the field of Science and Health, has helped her continue working in service of healthcare professionals in her family business.

Who is Arantxa Unda?

Arantxa Unda was born in 1987 in Madrid and completed her studies in International Business Sciences at the Pontifical University of Comillas. This university allowed its students to carry out the second part of their training in the United States, so Unda moved to Boston where she completed her degree at Northeastern University.

After graduating, she needed to complete an internship period that led her to work for two years in the financial sector in the city of London. Afterwards, she pursued an MBA at the prestigious Harvard University, which she completed in 2015. This short period helped her realize that she did not want to continue working in the banking sector and she decided to leave everything behind to return to Spain.

The reason for this change was to gain a deep understanding of a sector that interested her much more and was related to the family business founded by her father in 1993: Siguesa. This small and medium-sized enterprise was dedicated to the healthcare field, something for which Arantxa Unda had great ideas and a clear commitment to Big Data to turn her father’s company into her project for change.

2015: the moment of change

Arantxa definitively returned to Spain in 2015, a time when she sought to consolidate the company created by her father, while the organization and strategy of the company were internally modified. It was then that Unda took on the role of CEO within the company.

These new ideas brought fresh air to the company, which sought to invest in innovation with the goal of creating new products to help improve healthcare management. After a new way of managing and new initiatives, the company focused on the area responsible for hospital data analysis. Thanks to software developed by them that helps identify factors such as complications, mortality rate, or admissions that the same patient may experience.

Their tools are designed for healthcare professionals, so that through their use they can carry out studies involving different patients and obtain important data to improve the healthcare sector. Thanks to the results obtained from these studies, it is possible to improve the quality of healthcare and achieve more efficient resource management.

Thanks to this working tool, Arantxa Unda was named one of the 30 most influential young people under 30 in Europe in the field of Science in Health. This has undoubtedly encouraged her to continue on the same path, betting on methods that can help improve how healthcare professionals manage patients and, as a result, the improvement of Healthcare.
