Succeeds with his album Assume Form

Assume Form is the new work by James Blake, in which he wanted to include important artists such as Rosalía, with whom he has sung a song composed by both and in which they sing in both languages.

The British singer James Blake has released a new work with which he is determined to succeed and leave an international trail of his name. One of the songs from this album that has been best received on social networks has undoubtedly been the one he made with the Catalan singer and songwriter Rosalía. In it, the roots of both are skillfully intertwined to offer a whole musical show. Haven't you listened to it yet?

Who is James Blake?

James Blake was born in the United Kingdom in 1988. Music has always been very present in his life, as his father was a musician. The role of his father and James's passion for music led him to start playing the piano before he had finished school. The musical career of the British singer and songwriter began very early since during his years as a student in school and high school he already organized the so-called Bass Society, which were nights dedicated exclusively to music attended by various British artists.

His first work saw the light in 2011 and was titled James Blake. Thanks to his electronic music work on his debut album, he was nominated that same year for the Mercury prize.

Following his first work were albums such as Overgrown, released in 2013, and The Colour in Anything, which came out in 2016. Fans of the British artist had to wait another three years to see James Blake’s new album, which was released on January 18, 2019, and is titled Assume Form.

Assume Form, the new work by James Blake

The album was kept in absolute secrecy almost until the day it was released. In his new work, more mature and personal, he wanted to include collaborations with singers and artists both from the British scene and internationally. Thus, in Assume Form you will find songs featuring artists such as Metro Boomin, Travis Scott, Andre 3000, Moses Sumney, and Rosalía. But without a doubt, one of the songs that has generated the most excitement is the one he made with singer Rosalía, in which he sings in Spanish. He himself announced it through his Instagram.

Barefoot in the Park. Blake feat Rosalía

It quickly became a hit on social networks because its music is considered one of the best compositions by the British artist. This song was written by both, and the British singer lent his voice to the verses created by Rosalía for this song in which both sing in English and Spanish.

The album, which is full of romance, has this song as its highest expression, featuring the collaboration of Rosalía. For some British critics, this is by no means the best song on the album, despite the importance and the plays it has reached on Spotify since its release.

Barefoot in the Park clearly bears the mark of the Catalan, with its flamenco touches and continuous references to the songs of some of her favorite singers of this type of music. In it, we can find nods to Niña Pastori and verses in the purest style of folk music.

The verse that opens the song belongs to a song by Niña Pastori written by composer Paco Ortega in 1995. These are transformed by Rosalía to give them new nuances and be incorporated into the new language, both urban and flamenco at the same time. As she has done in her previous works Los Ángeles and El mal querer, the Catalan singer knows how to make attractive texts and songs found in folklore and popular repertoire to transform them into something completely groundbreaking. For this reason, the song they sing together has been so successful. We leave you the link so you can enjoy this appetizer offered by Spotify.
