The truth is that in these last 10 years there have been changes in the music industry. Not only changes in the rhythms listened to by the public and new generations, but also in how to identify the most successful artists of the moment. The most popular is no longer the one who sells the most records, but the one with the most plays on YouTube or the most listened to on Spotify.

We are going to take these considerations very much into account to prepare our list of the best songs of the last decade.

On YouTube

If we start by analyzing YouTube, we see that at the end of last year it published the list of the most listened to songs worldwide in the last 10 years. The song "Despacito" by singers Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee leads the ranking (6.7 billion views), followed by "Shape of You" by Ed Sheeran (4.7 billion views).

1. Despacito

-Number of views: more than 6.7 billion.

"Despacito," by Puerto Rican Luis Fonsi with the collaboration of Daddy Yankee, was released at the beginning of 2017. It was written by Fonsi, Erika Ender, Gabriel García, and Daddy Yankee, and produced by Andrés Torres and Mauricio Rengifo, and managed to reach number 1 in more than 80 countries. There are numerous versions of this great hit, but the English version with Justin Bieber reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

2. Shape of you

-Number of views: more than 4.7 billion.

3. See you again

-Group/Singer: Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth.
-Number of views: more than 4.5 billion.

4. Uptown funk

-Group/Singer: Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars.
-Number of views: more than 3.8 billion.

5. Gangnam style

-Number of views: more than 3.5 billion.

On Spotify

We now turn our focus to Spotify and list the preferences of Spaniards when it comes to listening to music over the last 10 years. According to the streaming music platform, the soundtrack of our country has been marked, above all, by reggaeton and pop, something that, on the other hand, we could all foresee.

The song "Me Rehúso" by Danny Ocean tops the list as the favorite among Spaniards.

Following them, once again, are "Despacito" by Luis Fonsi with Daddy Yankee and "Shape of You" by Ed Sheeran, two songs we saw on the YouTube list.

On this occasion, among the most listened to songs on Spotify we find "Sin Pijama" by Becky G with Natti Natasha and "Contando Lunares" by the Canarian Don Patricio with Cruz Cafuné.
