Who is Elvira Sastre?
Elvira Sastre is 28 years old and was born in Segovia. She has studied translation and philology, but her love for letters has led her to become one of the most important Spanish writers today. What is the reason for her success? It is because she has been able to combine her spectacular way of expressing the world in verse with new technologies and bring poetry to young people through social networks.
Elvira, besides being a writer, is an influencer, because not everything in the world of social networks has to be fashion or travel. She has gained more than 410,000 followers on Instagram, 170,000 on Twitter, and 370,000 on Facebook thanks to her work.
Her first book of poems was published in 2013 and was titled Forty-three Ways to Let Your Hair Down, achieving great sales success that brought her to an audience that seemed uninterested in poetry. The truth is that this adventure did not end there, and since then Elvira Sastre has published a series of works that have made her a reference in poetry in our country. In 2014 she published her second poetry collection titled Bastion, followed a year later by No One Dances Anymore (2015), a poetic anthology by the author, followed by her latest poetry collection titled The Solitude of a Body Used to Wounds.

Elvira Sastre has also written her first novel titled Days Without You. Her first prose work has been recognized by critics who awarded her the 61st Biblioteca Breve Prize granted by the publisher Seix Barral.
Days Without You is a story that explores pain, loss and family bonds. The narrative explains the bond between a grandmother and her granddaughter. Both belong to very different generations: the grandmother, a schoolteacher during the Second Republic, and the grandson, a sculptor of the 21st century, delve into the importance of knowing the past and creating a bond with it to understand both generations.
The pain is very present throughout the work, a pain that the artist is able to transform into beauty with her talent for telling stories in such an elaborate way. Elvira Sastre’s first novel speaks of losses, but also of love, sadness, fear, human suffering, but also overcoming and the ability to rise above the stumbling blocks that life places in their path.
Her Audience
Elvira Sastre has managed to reach a very young audience who have come to know her through social networks and her more lyrical side. Despite this, the writer is convinced that neither poetry nor storytelling have an age, something she wanted to show in her first novel where both an older person with their concerns and experiences, and a young person in a hectic and current world like the 21st century are represented. Her first novel was released on March 5 and since then has become one of the best-selling books of the year.
