How to Maximize Tablet Performance for the Start of the New School Year

Back to school, to the office, to work… back to the routine! With its ups and downs, the routine is that period of time and place where we all have our daily lives under control. For adults, it means reconnecting with coworkers, reopening business shutters, returning to team meetings or business trips. For the little ones… the madness of going back to school begins! And one device that can’t be missing from a backpack is, without a doubt, the tablet.

It’s the perfect solution for almost everyone. While schools require them starting from a certain grade and age, children happily use them to study and do homework, as well as for leisure activities and staying in touch with classmates. They are popular for their lightness and portability. Also, their screen size, larger than a smartphone’s, makes it very comfortable to work on, watch videos, and of course, use messaging or video call apps that young people use to stay connected with friends and classmates.

To help our students bring their tablets to the classroom in the best possible condition, we’re sharing these six tips that will help maximize their performance.

  1. Do a thorough system cleanup

If the tablet is used outside of school, especially during the summer, it’s likely full of unnecessary programs and content. To ensure it doesn’t lose speed, it’s necessary to clean the system. Operating systems include specific tools for this, but you can also manually delete all unused apps and useless widgets. Don’t forget to clear the cache periodically.

  1. Buy a high-speed Micro SD card for reading and writing

Most tablets offer the option to expand internal memory by adding memory cards. This way, the operating system and programs run from internal memory, and files are saved on the card. However, you should check the specifications of the Micro SD card model and choose one that offers the best performance.

  1. Enhance multimedia capabilities with a speaker or wireless headphones

Although tablets have built-in speakers, which are increasingly better quality, you can boost their multimedia capabilities with a device that amplifies sound. A good option is a portable Bluetooth speaker like SPC SOUND MINIMAX, which offers great power and 24-hour battery life in a very compact body, weighing only 250 g. If your children are a bit older and want some privacy, you can provide it with wireless headphones like SPC ETHER PRO, which we are currently giving away with the purchase of any SPC tablet.

  1. Automate updates and antivirus scans

Two of the biggest factors that slow down computing devices are outdated applications and viruses in the system. For this reason, it’s recommended to set updates to run automatically (but only when connected to Wi-Fi, to avoid using mobile data), and also to schedule at least a daily antivirus scan included by default on the tablet.

  1. Use a protective case

To prevent damage from accidental drops or, more commonly, rough handling (which also includes carrying it inside a backpack full of other items), it’s advisable to always keep the tablet inside a protective case. There are more child-friendly and colorful designs, like SPC GUMMER CASE 2 (made of EVA foam), or more sober and understated ones, like SPC COSPLAY SLEEVE 2 (made of polyurethane). In both cases, they can also be used as a practical stand to help younger users with their tasks or studying.

  1. Take advantage of parental control tools

To complement what teachers explain about the use of tablets in your children’s classroom, especially for the younger ones at home, you can use the features offered by parental control apps like Google Family Link, which provide access to information such as the usage history of installed applications.
