Did you know about the milk and Coca Cola experiment?

We explain to you why what happens, happens

Surely in recent days you have been sent viral challenges to do at home; but you have probably already done them all and don’t have many more experiments left to try. We believe we can surprise you with one you didn’t know yet.

How many stories do you know about Coca Cola? Some of that information will be false myths, but others are as true as “2+2=4”. For example, the milk and Coca Cola experiment we show you here.

In this video, you will see that if you mix milk and Coca Cola, the fizzy liquid begins to lose the intensity of its brown color as if by magic.

Why does Coca Cola seem to turn into water?

Although it may seem like a trick or a mystery worthy of the Mystery Ship, the truth is that it has a perfectly logical scientific explanation. The answer lies in the folic acid that milk contains and that reacts upon contact with the acids in Coca Cola. This chemical reaction is called precipitation and causes a separation in the substances creating a dense mass that settles at the bottom of the bottle. This is nothing other than spoiled milk reacting with the acids of the soda.

Another curiosity is that the reaction speed is higher at higher temperatures, so it makes sense that with hot milk this precipitation reaction is much faster. Therefore, it will carry much less dye and the Coca Cola will remain darker.
