David Broncano: How much money do you have in the bank?

How much money do you have in the bank?

Oh, what a chopecha! Have the pachachos arrived yet or are they doing jíbiri, jíbiri? Get to know a little more about the figure of David Broncano, the quintessential millennial.

David Broncano was going to be an air traffic controller, but he stayed on Modern Life just hanging out. The radio show he hosts alongside Ignatius Farray and Quequé is one of the most popular on Cadena SER, which has earned him an Ondas award. Additionally, Broncano has managed to carve out a place in the mainstream on pay TV and has his own show on Movistar +, The Resistance.

Who is David Broncano?

David Broncano is that young confused guy who, despite being born in Galicia, spent his entire childhood and adolescence in Orcera (Jaén), living as if he were a Mowgli, something he often recalls. He is proud of his town and whenever he can, he is its best ambassador. So much so that Zahara, knowing David Broncano since childhood after spending her summers in Orcera, wrote a song about the city's monumental swimming pool. Yes, the one that has to be filled with a big jet.

Broncano is the host of Modern Life, a SER show that won the Ondas award in the last 2018 edition for best radio program. Something they have not had trouble accepting and for which they have even requested three personalized figures at the Madrid Wax Museum.

Modern Life is one of the quintessential millennial shows where any topic is treated irreverently and humorously, no matter how raw it may be, even though this has cost them a lawsuit over a sheep (if you are a fan of the show, you will know what I am talking about). Recently, Modern Life, the favorite show of Merca Madrid workers, reached its 500th episode and its videos are the most viewed on YouTube of the entire Cadena SER.

Broncano is a great sports lover and a fan of Roger Federer; he also loves practicing sports like mountaineering, which has cost him a few injuries. He is a teetotaler, so at the Goya Awards gala he decided to pose with his bottle of water. On the other hand, he has a bit of OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) as he himself has admitted on many occasions.

From collaborator to host

He began his career on television as a comedian doing segments on some shows like Ilustres ignorantes, hosted by Javier Coronas, or monologues on the Club de la Comedia, and although he has been at it for many years, fame finally came when he was hired by Andreu Buenafuente for Late Motiv. David Broncano was one of Andreu's collaborators and soon managed to gain a large group of followers.

Jíbiri, Jíbiri

He has a very particular language full of colloquial expressions or words that have little to do with their original meaning. To be moñeco, to fold the napkin, to log off Windows, amochar (all referring to dying); to go lacasito, to shake the same hand twice, to go piruleta (to refer to being drunk) are just some examples.

So much so that on many occasions Buenafuente himself has confessed that he did not understand him. In his effort to be understood with his terms, he had the collaboration of Beatriz Romero, sign language interpreter who works with the singer Rozalen to help the deaf also understand her expressions. How do you translate Jíbiri, Jíbiri? Only someone like Beatriz Romero could do it.

His Jíbiri, Jíbiri is his most famous expression, and it means that things are done secretly, so no one sees them. The best part is that the word is accompanied by a characteristic hand gesture. But it doesn't end there; in one of his appearances on Late Motiv, he mentioned that Jíbiri could perfectly be the name of a person, which led him to find Doctor Jíbiri in Nigeria and write him a letter.

La Resistencia

While collaborating with Andreu Buenafuente, he was at the helm of the program Loco Mundo, in which his colleagues from La Vida Moderna also participated, also on the private channel.

Although he would undoubtedly become one of the most well-known faces on television thanks to being the host of La Resistencia, where humor, music, and interviews are the keys to this program that airs on Movistar late at night.

In it, Broncano conducts his interviews in his own peculiar way, reading Wikipedia and asking his guests about things that his audience is very interested in, like his now classic: How much money do you have?

Actors like Antonio Resines (the one who confessed to Broncano that he had the most money in the bank), comedians like Javier Cansado, or trap singers like Yung Beef, who starred alongside Alias in one of the most surreal interviews on television, have passed through the La Resistencia couch. In which the surprise guest was a bit lacasito.

Feísmo

Feísmo is an artistic movement with which he himself refers to the photos on his Instagram. Are you tired of seeing your friends' posturing on social media? Filters, sunsets on the most paradisiacal beaches in the world, very appetizing food, the best selfies… without a doubt, Broncano's Instagram is your cure for so much cute world. It only has 31 posts, each one more bizarre than the last.

In this one, for example, he asks his fans for advice on whether or not he should buy a t-shirt; the truth is, if you manage to see more than just the lady's face, you can help him decide.
