Although security on computers and mobiles is increasingly strengthened thanks to antivirus or malware detectors, you must keep in mind that you could be a victim of one of these attacks. Social networks are not exempt from these dangers and yes, they can also break into your Instagram.

Data is very valuable to these criminals, and on your social networks they can find everything they need to make a profit.

Is it possible to break into Instagram?

The answer is yes, they can steal your Instagram account through tricks via mobile or computer. Although there are many ways to do it, they are also easy to detect since many of these criminals use simple techniques. We tell you which are the most common.

Watch out for emails

This method is based on sending an email with a link that invites you to click. Usually, the message in these emails is always the same and refers to a violation of your rights and that someone is trying to enter your profile. The email looks very similar to any official one that Instagram might send you; clicking on it will take you to a page where you must enter your email and password.

How to tell if it is fake? Very simple, look at the sender of the email, often they use strange characters; also, all official company emails have the domain @instagram.com—if you don’t see it, distrust it immediately. On the other hand, you should check the security certificate shown by the padlock in your browser. If the page owner is Instagram itself and meets all guarantees, the message is genuine.

Look what photo I found!

Be very careful with links you receive; if you don’t know the person sending it, do not open it. If it is a friend, ask why to make sure it is really a photo they want you to see. Through that malicious link, you will be taken to a page identical to Instagram. Here is where the trick is detected. The page will take you to an Instagram login screen where you must enter your access details, even if you have the session open on your phone.

But what if you don’t have the session open? In this case, you should pay attention to the security certificate. In all browsers, you can see a padlock image indicating the site is secure. If you click on it, you will see whether the site is safe and who owns the link.

Who visits your profile?

You may have seen hundreds of times applications and pages that promise to offer you information about the people who view your photos and profiles on networks. Taking advantage of curiosity, intruders create websites or applications that can be downloaded to steal your account data. These applications will ask you to log in with your email and password; in this way, they get your data and have everything ready to access your personal information.

In any case, the best option is for you to change the password from the application itself and not by following any link.
