Sony and Microsoft finally reveal the secret.
Microsoft, the first to announce the price of the new Xbox
The company will launch two versions of its new Xbox, the Series S and the Series X. Microsoft has stated that the Xbox Series S will be the smallest Xbox in history. This version will be accompanied by its bigger sister, the Xbox Series X, a more powerful version with a clear difference compared to the Series S that we will explain below. Their prices are 299€ for the Xbox Series S and 499€ for the Xbox Series X.

There also seem to be similarities between both versions, as both will have the same game catalog, although the graphic quality of the games will be higher resolution on the Series X. Microsoft states in the Series X presentation video that it aims to offer 1440p resolutions in its games and even upscaled 4K.
We must not forget the difference we mentioned earlier, which is the lack of physical support on the Xbox Series S, or in other words, this model only includes digital support for its games. Thus, games that users want to acquire for this version will have to be purchased through the Xbox store.
Sony also presents two versions of the PS5
Sony has also announced the price and release date of its next console, the PS5. It will be from November 19, just one day earlier than what the first reports suggested.
Like Microsoft, this time the PS5 will also come in two different models: PS5 Digital Edition priced at 399 euros and the PlayStation 5 (standard) at 499 euros. The brand states that both models have the same power, so it is understood that the price difference is due to the inclusion of a disc reader in the more expensive model, as Microsoft also did.
Sony also took advantage of the digital event presenting its new console to announce a new service that PlayStation Plus will offer its subscribers. It is what they have called PlayStation Plus Collection and will allow a large number of titles from the previous version, PS4, to be downloaded and played on PS5 at no extra cost.
So, which do I choose, the PS5 or the Xbox?
The design and concept strategy of both brands is slightly different. On one hand, Sony includes the same raw power in its two versions of PlayStation 5, so the price difference between them is due to the disc reader in the more expensive model. With Microsoft, the Xbox Series X positions itself as the console with power and price very much in line with the PS5, while the Xbox Series S remains the most affordable of all and with less power.
There is another big difference between the two. While Xbox is focusing its efforts on creating a large catalog of games available online, through Xbox Game Pass, Sony bets on improving the gaming experience through 3D sound, for example, and on building loyalty among its community with the release of major exclusive games.
