Arrives to challenge Netflix and HBO

The Sky Spain television platform has arrived with its offer to compete directly with the services of HBO and Netflix.

Pay television in our country is becoming increasingly important, so a new rival has appeared for the existing platforms: Sky Spain, which seeks its place in the market and presents itself as a competitor to other services such as HBO, Netflix, or Movistar +. The network has more than 20 years of experience behind it and already operates in 7 countries of the European Union.

What is Sky Spain?

Sky Spain first appeared in our country in October 2017 and since then has not stopped expanding its offer to attract the audience that still does not have a pay television service. It is estimated that in Spain there are 12 million households that still do not use any platform of this kind.

Although the competition is high, the different platforms have managed to distinguish themselves from each other and each pursues specific goals, whether in content quality as is the case of HBO, original productions like Netflix, or thematic programs and channels like Movistar +. For its part, Sky combines many of the features of its rivals as it aims to become the preferred pay television platform for Spaniards.

To reach a wider audience, they have decided to lower their prices to the minimum, so for 10 euros a month you can enjoy all their services. Also, to try it out you can subscribe for a free month and decide whether or not to continue with the service they offer.

What does Sky Spain offer?

The company was born in England and is the main European pay channel with 23 million customers in 7 countries. For now, the number of subscribers in Spain is unknown, but perhaps its format will be chosen by those who do not identify with the other platforms.

Sky offers you 16 live pay channels, although you also have the option to watch the content each of them offers on demand. These channels include entertainment for the whole family through children’s or sports programs among others. You can also enjoy great series and films or documentaries made by the prestigious History channel.

The offer includes the following channels: TNT, Fox, MTV, LaLiga 1,2,3, Calle 13, Disney Junior, Disney XD, National Geographic, History Channel, Nickelodeon, SiFy, Fox Live, AXN White, Comedy Central, and CTM. On these channels you can watch series like Vis a Vis or Paw Patrol, one of the favorites among the little ones.

There is no contract commitment, so you can cancel whenever you want and you can try their services for a month at no cost and above all, without any ties to the network. Their content is offered in standard HD quality and is prepared for multi-device viewing.

You can enjoy their channels wherever you want with up to 3 devices simultaneously. It is compatible with Android and IOS and with PS4 consoles. The main drawback of Sky is that it does not have a downloadable app for viewing on your smart TV and you will need a decoder called Sky Tv Box. This has a quite affordable price compared to other devices of the same type, 10 euros. Also, it includes other applications like YouTube, Vevo, and Sky News so you can enjoy your favorite music and keep up with all the news.

Currently, it has on-demand content made up of 61 series, of which 16 are complete. Among its most notable titles you will find Modern Family or Grey’s Anatomy. Regarding films, it has 258 titles, 31 of which are aimed at the little ones.
