Discover His Difficult Journey on Netflix Not everything is a bed of roses. The documentary about Nicky Jam’s life on Netflix reveals all the details of his hard life. The world of music is often linked to that of drugs, but not all singers or artists who have gone through it have dared to admit it publicly or even tell their life story in the form of a film or documentary. Especially some musical styles more connected with urban life are known for being involved in these troubled lives where drug abuse is common and very hard to escape. But some, like Nicky Jam and his Netflix series, have dared to give voice and experience to the hell of this kind of life and have brought it to the world in the form of a documentary. The Nicky Jam Documentary on Netflix Netflix has long been known for series that deal with all kinds of situations, no matter how harsh, but recently it has chosen to show reality through documentaries. On the streaming video platform you usually watch on your tablet or mobile device, you can now find the one about Nicky Jam, one of the current stars of Latin music. It is titled The Winner and tells in an autobiographical tone the situations the reggaeton singer had to go through. He speaks openly about his childhood and his addiction to drugs. Leaving the Streets Nicky Jam’s childhood was very hard as he lived in one of the poorest neighborhoods in the city of Massachusetts. Born into a broken family and the son of a mother who was a prostitute and drug addict, his upbringing was mainly shaped on the streets. From a very young age and driven by need and the oppressive environment he lived in, he began to commit thefts that soon led him into a dark world full of drugs and weapons, which he shows very honestly in the documentary. Within this world, where he came to know drugs very closely at an early age, a passion was blossoming that he worked hard to develop: music. Even as a child, he began to show his skills in this field, something that would later help him leave the streets. Years later, now a teenager, Nicky Jam moved to live in Puerto Rico, where his whole world began to fall apart due to addictions and crime. But it was also at this time that he began to unleash all his potential as a musician and formed a duo with Daddy Yankee. They worked together for some time, but their drug use caused their friendship to end. Although his passion for music was very strong and he soon began to show all his potential, his drug addiction led him faster and faster into a dead end that caused his health to suffer very early on. On the other hand, crime was another part of his life and he moved to New York where he worked as a drug dealer. During this stage, he was in danger on several occasions, some due to drugs, others because of bad company or being caught in disputes between different traffickers. This led him to fall into a deep depression and spend some time in jail after being arrested for drunk driving without a license. Changing Life His depression and time in jail marked a turning point in his life. After that, and thanks to the unconditional support of his father, Nicky Jam managed to undergo detox therapies and finally leave his addictions behind. This soon allowed him to be able to release all his creativity again and return to singing and composing his own songs. This new attitude toward life and his recovery led him to become one of the stars of the moment and to win a Latin Grammy in 2015 thanks to El Perdón.
