His first victory at Roland Garros came in 2005 when he debuted against Lars Burgsmuller. This was followed by others such as in 2006, when he set the record for most consecutive wins on clay, a total of 54. In 2007, he achieved his first treble in the city of Paris; at that time Nadal was only 21 years old and was already on his way to becoming one of the greatest tennis players in the world. In 2008, he again took the title without losing a single set. Thanks to this feat, he matched the record of another player, Borg. His play and his reasoning on the court helped him achieve this spectacular victory. The year 2009 was a bitter year for Rafa Nadal as he was eliminated in the round of 16 after four consecutive years of victories. This defeat did not make him give up, and a year later in 2010, he lifted the cup again against the player who had taken it from him the previous year: Soderling. In 2011, he achieved his sixth victory and matched Bjorn Borg, the only one who until then had won so many times in Paris. But it did not end there; the following year marked a new record for Nadal when in 2012 he again took the prize in Paris, becoming the player who has won the cup the most times. His seventh win was followed by an eighth in 2013. The year 2014 was a bittersweet year for Nadal, who had lost the Australian Open final after suffering an injury, something that did not stop him from winning again at the French tournament. In 2016, he voluntarily withdrew in the third round due to a wrist injury that prevented him from reaching his optimal sporting condition. Finally, in 2017, he returned in full form to the courts to claim what would be his 10th Roland Garros title. In 2018, he achieved his 11th victory, which led to him being definitively considered the King of the clay courts.
