SPC, the Spanish consumer electronics brand, completes the renewal of its mobile phones for seniors with SPC HARMONY 4G. Its predecessor, the SPC HARMONY model, became a key device in positioning the Spanish brand as a leader in the mobile market, where 1 in 3 units sold in Spain is SPC, according to the consultancy GFK.
The new version of the HARMONY range incorporates 4G technology into its main senior phones, an initiative that started last summer with SPC JASPER 2 4G and continued with SPC FORTUNE 2 4G. Thus, all three mobile phones now have the maximized coverage provided by 4G connectivity.
SPC HARMONY 4G is a 4G flip phone ideal for older adults, as it offers several options and features specially designed for them and aimed at making it easier to use.
Features for those with visual or hearing difficulties
Thanks to incorporating HD voice, SPC HARMONY 4G offers a wider frequency range than the traditional calling system, which makes conversations clearer and allows the user to hear the other person more distinctly. 4G technology also provides better call quality, which is a great advantage for older adults as it makes their conversations more intelligible.
Additionally, the device is compatible with all hearing aids on the market. It has the HAC M3/T3 compatibility level, so people with hearing aids can hear their interlocutor more clearly without interference or the distortions typical of these devices, such as feedback or unwanted beeps. The phone also features a high ringtone volume, up to 97.5 dB, so the user can hear incoming calls even if the phone is far away.
On the other hand, if the person has reduced vision, they can use voice-guided dialing, where a voice will inform them at all times, number by number, of what has been pressed before calling. It also has XXL keys, with large numbers and letters on the screen and phone, for greater accessibility for senior users.
An extremely useful dual screen
The new SPC HARMONY 4G has two screens: the inner one, 2.4”, and the outer one, 1.77”. This feature is especially useful for accessing all information without opening the flip.
The outer screen shows the mobile signal, time, battery status, and, above all, the caller thanks to its caller ID. This is a very intuitive feature thanks to the ‘Photo Contacts’ option, which allows associating an image with each of the 8 favorite contacts so the user can know who is calling at a quick glance.
To make handling the phone even easier, SPC HARMONY 4G has three direct memory buttons (M1, M2, and M3) that can be linked to three favorite contacts to call them with just a few seconds of pressing. If, on the other hand, the user wants to avoid unwanted calls, they can store several phone numbers in a blacklist. This device also has a phonebook to store up to 1500 contacts.
SOS button and SPC Smart Help, true lifesavers for older adults
Located on the back, easy to find but hard to press by mistake due to its carefully designed concave shape, the SOS button allows, with a long press, to automatically call and send an SMS to the five pre-set emergency contacts. The phone will make three rounds of calls, for a total of up to 15 emergency calls, and emit a sound signal so that someone nearby can assist the user who activates this useful function.
Also, SPC HARMONY 4G includes Smart Help, the three intelligent help functions that are SPC’s hallmark. These include remote configuration, which allows some settings to be configured from another phone remotely by simply sending predefined codes via SMS. The second Smart Help function is the smart ringtone, which automatically raises the ringtone to maximum if, after a missed call, the same number calls again within 3 minutes.
And finally, the smart notifications via SMS sent to a helper phone. These notifications inform the receiver that something important has happened, such as the phone battery being low (below 15%), a missed call, or inactivity for more than 24 hours.
