Geecool is born, the first Spanish refurbished brand aimed at mass consumption

Geecool offers refurbished smartphones without intermediaries, ensuring the highest quality in after-sales service and technical support.

The refurbished device sector continues to grow in Spain, with a total of 332.9 million units expected to be sold in 2023.

Today marks the launch in Spain of Geecool, the first refurbished brand aimed at mass consumption of Spanish origin. Geecool was created with the goal of offering technology consumers in our country a trusted alternative when purchasing a restored tech product to give it a new life. Initially, the brand will focus on smartphones with plans to expand its offering to other types of consumer electronics devices in the future. Unlike other refurbished services, Geecool will operate without intermediaries, thus ensuring the highest quality in its products and simplifying after-sales and technical support for all its buyers.

Geecool is launched in partnership with SPC (Smart Products Connection), the Spanish consumer technology company with over thirty years of experience in the ICT sector. For more than three decades, SPC has anticipated the constant changes in the technology sector by adapting its product and service offerings to market needs. With this new launch, SPC continues to evolve its offering to help everyone connect with what truly matters to them. The know-how acquired by SPC throughout its history allows Geecool to position itself as a guarantor of excellence, offering products that meet the highest guidelines and quality standards for consumers and businesses.

The birth of this new brand reaffirms SPC’s commitment to innovation and the needs of a consumer increasingly concerned about sustainability and who turns to consumption methods aligned with the circular economy. At a time when electronic waste is estimated to reach 57.4 million tons, refurbished electronics present a viable alternative to reduce the amount of waste we generate, as well as the carbon footprint produced in the manufacturing and disposal of our devices. According to the consulting firm IDC, sales of refurbished devices in Spain will grow at a rate above 13.6% until 2023, when a total of 332.9 million units sold is expected. Specifically, in the smartphone category, which Geecool will focus on at launch, Counterpoint reports that sales of refurbished smartphones grew three times faster than new devices during 2021.

Teresa Acha-Orbea, General Manager of SPC, commented “The launch of Geecool is a natural step for our company, reflecting our innovative DNA and our constant listening to consumer concerns and needs to adapt to them and offer technology that allows them to stay connected with what truly matters. We expect a positive reception due to the growing concern of Spanish consumers about sustainability, as well as our more than thirty years of experience in the technology sector.” She adds: “Geecool is part of the various initiatives we are carrying out at SPC that demonstrate our commitment to the environment and our support for the circular economy.”

Geecool’s refurbished smartphones are now available through www.geecool.es and in major retail stores throughout Spain.

In addition to the mass consumer segment, Geecool will be available for professionals. SPC has deep knowledge and extensive experience in the professional segment through its SPC for Business division, specialized in unified communication and collaboration solutions for companies.
